Biometric Information For Canada Study Visa

As of 2021, most applicants for a Canada study visa, also known as a study permit, are required to provide biometric information as part of the application process. Biometric information includes your fingerprints and a digital photograph.

You will need to provide your biometric information at a designated Visa Application Centre (VAC) in your country of origin or a nearby location. The fee for biometric collection is CAD $85 for an individual, with a maximum fee of CAD $170 for a family applying at the same time.

Note that some applicants may be exempt from providing biometric information, such as those under the age of 14 or over the age of 79, or those who have provided biometric information in the past 10 years for a previous Canadian visa or immigration application.

It is recommended that you check the Canadian government’s website or consult with a qualified immigration lawyer to determine if you are required to provide biometric information and for the most up-to-date information on the biometric collection process.
