Switch From Australia Student Visa

It is possible to switch from a student visa to another visa in Australia if you meet the eligibility requirements for the new visa. Here are some of the most common visa options for students who wish to stay in Australia after completing their studies:

  • Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485): This visa allows international students who have recently graduated from an Australian institution to stay in Australia for up to 18 months to gain work experience. To be eligible for this visa, you must have completed a degree or higher qualification in Australia within the last six months or have graduated from a CRICOS-registered course within the last six months.
  • Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189): This visa is designed for skilled workers who want to live and work in Australia permanently. To be eligible for this visa, you must have an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List and meet the points test requirement.
  • Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190): This visa is similar to the Skilled Independent visa, but it requires nomination by an Australian state or territory government. To be eligible for this visa, you must have an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List and meet the points test requirement.
  • Employer Nomination Scheme visa (subclass 186): This visa is for skilled workers who have a sponsor in Australia and want to work in Australia permanently. To be eligible for this visa, you must have an occupation on the Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List and meet the skills and English language requirements.

It’s important to note that each visa has its own eligibility requirements, and the application process can be complex. It’s recommended that you seek advice from a registered migration agent or the Department of Home Affairs before applying for a new visa.
