Cancellation Policy For USA Study Visa

As of Current cutoff date of September 2021, the U.S. Department of State did not have a specific cancellation policy for study visas to the United States. However, if you decide to cancel or withdraw your visa application before a decision has been made, you should inform the U.S. embassy or consulate where you applied as soon as possible.

If your visa application is approved and you decide not to travel to the United States, you should also inform the U.S. embassy or consulate as soon as possible. Depending on the circumstances, your visa may be automatically revoked or cancelled by the U.S. government.

If you have already arrived in the United States with a study visa and you decide to cancel your studies or leave the country before the end of your authorized stay, you may be required to notify the U.S. government and surrender your visa.

It is important to note that cancelling or withdrawing a visa application or leaving the United States before the end of your authorized stay may have implications for your future visa applications and travel to the United States. It is recommended that you consult with the U.S. embassy or consulate and your school’s international student office for guidance on the appropriate steps to take in these situations.
